Development of Ukraine's Sporting Future: Elina Svitolina and Serhiy Stakhovsky Joined Young Tennis Players on the Court in Lviv
On April 5, 2025, a new format of the Svitolina Foundation program took place in Lviv, at the LEOSPORT tennis club courts. The event featured a large-scale master class and an inspiring conversation. Nearly 400 participants attended, including young tennis players aged 6 to 16, their parents and coaches, as well as military personnel currently undergoing rehabilitation at the UNBROKEN National Rehabilitation Center.
The best tennis player in Ukraine, Elina Svitolina, and decorated professional tennis player Serhiy Stakhovsky, who is now a Master Sergeant at the Special Operations Center "A" of the Security Service of Ukraine, helped participants practice their shots. These meetings with stars of Ukrainian sports aim to promote tennis in the regions of Ukraine, unite the efforts of business and local authorities to develop sports infrastructure, and cultivate new leaders in Ukrainian sports.
"We are very positive. We see that the children enjoy being together, motivating each other. We do this to develop tennis, to develop sports in Ukraine, and I believe that in the coming years we will organize even more such events," shared Elina Svitolina.
"This time we complemented the master class with communication. The main goal of this event is to motivate children to continue playing sports. In life, on the way to the results you want to achieve, you will face failures. But the only way to become better is to keep training and believe in yourself, in your abilities, and in your will," replied Serhiy Stakhovsky to a participant's question on how to overcome setbacks.
The joint training and live communication with experienced colleagues in tennis not only inspired the young players but also impressed the military personnel who visited from the UNBROKEN center and joined Serhiy Stakhovsky and Elina Svitolina on the court.
"It feels great, it gives me new strength. I’m training a bit, we’re practicing among ourselves. I’ll be back in action and keep fighting for our nation so that the children here live in peace and continue being strong," shared military personnel Bogdan (from Pryluky, Chernihiv region), who has a prosthetic leg.
The master class took place in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. The children felt personal support from the stars of Ukrainian tennis, who are role models for the younger generation.
"I’m pleasantly surprised by today’s event. I saw the emotions of our children, they were incredible! As long as we have people like Elina Svitolina and Serhiy Stakhovsky, Ukrainian tennis will continue to grow. They are powerful! I’m very grateful to them for the impressions they gave us today," concluded the host of the venue, Oleksandr Svishchov.
The Svitolina Foundation expresses sincere gratitude to the event partners: Nova Poshta, Adidas, UKRSIBBANK, Mercedes-Benz, SETANTA SPORTS, NEW VOICE, and LEOSPORT. Thanks to their support, this day was made possible.
